Centre Gathering

This conference will bring together directors and workers from Indigenous treatment centres across Canada to discuss issues of importance.

This conference will be held at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. Complete the online registration form below by January 10, 2024 to ensure you are registered to attend, which includes full coverage of travel and hotel expenses. Important Notes

  • Travel and accommodation expenses for travel companions of event registrants will not be covered, with the only exception being travel companions of Elders.
  • Event registrants will have the opportunity to identify a travel companion through the registration link. Both event registrants and travel companions may ask to book rooms in the event’s room block
  • Additional information will be made available around eligible mileage claims, for questions contact events@thunderbirdpf.org.

Parking

    • All attendees in the event room block will have access to parking at the hotel with in and out privileges, indicate if you will need parking when registering.
    • Parking expenses are included in the costs covered by Thunderbird (for attendees whose costs are covered).
    • Instructions
      • Larger vehicles (those taller than 5’5’’) will not fit and guests should plan to find alternative options, such as the underground lot next to the hotel (all costs and management are separate from Thunderbird and the Chelsea Hotel).
      • Parking at the Chelsea is part of the check in process: on arrival, guests park in the hotel lot and bring their ticket to the front desk for validation.
  • Attendees whose expenses are covered will only need ID (driver’s license, status card, or similar photo ID), to check in at the hotel.
  • Any upgrades to hotel accommodations are at the expense of the individual registrant. Upgrades will not be covered by the event organizer.
Presentation video and audio recordings will be shared for learning purposes and pictures of the event will be shared on our website, in professional reports, and via our social media. Please consider giving your consent for us to share this content. Media release forms will be available at the event. All questions can be sent to events@thunderbirdpf.org.

A Round Dance will be held on the evening of February 7 at the Chelsea Hotel. More details to come! All event attendees are welcome!

  • More details on the event agenda will be shared closer to the date.
  • Preliminary topics include staff recognition, standardized national treatment curriculum, mental wellness workforce association, regional mental wellness, accreditation, and Indigenous Services Canada reporting with potential changes to outcomes-based reporting.
  • The Gathering will be primarily discussion-based.
  • We are unable to support a virtual option for the Gathering. If you are unable to attend there will be presentation recordings and an event summary report made available.
